Orthodontics Q&A
Orthodontics is a cosmetic dental treatment that can shift crooked or misaligned teeth into proper alignment over time. The Nuve Dental team offers traditional braces with wires and brackets or clear aligners to slowly move your teeth into their ideal position. Dr. Guzman develops a customized orthodontics treatment that’s right for you.
Benefits you can experience with orthodontics at Nuve Dental include:
- Straighter teeth
- Easier teeth cleaning
- Less adjacent teeth shifting
- A beautiful smile
- More self-confidence
- Clearer speech
Orthodontic treatment can give you the beautiful smile of your dreams without invasive procedures or pain.
To find out if you’re a candidate for orthodontics treatment at Nuve Dental, Dr. Guzman discusses your oral health history, examines your teeth and gums, and reviews the results of dental X-rays. He talks about your desired outcome to find the right plan for you.
The two main orthodontic treatments available at Nuve Dental include:
Traditional braces
Traditional braces consist of metal brackets Dr. Guzman securely bonds to the front part of each tooth. They attach wires to each bracket and tighten them periodically to slowly shift crooked teeth into their proper place.
Clear aligners
Clear aligners fit over the top of your teeth to gradually move them into a better position over time. Your dentist digitally scans your mouth to create aligners that fit perfectly over your natural teeth. You can wear the aligners all day and night, except when you eat and brush your teeth. Every week or two, switch to the next set of aligners in your series until you complete treatment.
The duration of your orthodontics treatment depends on your unique needs and situation. Treatment with clear aligners might last about 12-18 months, while treatment with traditional braces can take up to two years.
If you’re unhappy with the alignment of your teeth or the appearance of your smile, schedule an appointment with Nuve Dental by phone or book online today to find out which type of orthodontics treatment is right for you.
